DESCRIPTION
The holidays are here! Make the dessert of the year with our latest cookout recipe: Grandma’s Apple Pie – made originally in a cast iron skillet
INGREDIENTS:
- 4 Red apples, 2 green apples
- ¾ cup sugar
- ¼ cup flour
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon nutmeg
- ½ stick butter
- 2 pie crusts
- Duck Fat Spray
- Vanilla Icecream
- Texas Pepper Jelly Rib Candy “Sweet No Heat” apple (or apple cinnamon)
DIRECTIONS:
1. Load the big green egg with Jealous Devil lump charcoal
2. Preheat the big green egg to 425 degrees
3. While the egg preheats, peel and slice the apples
4. Chop the apple slices into a smaller consistency
5. Place chopped apples into a bowl & mix with ¾ cup sugar, ¼ cup flour, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, ½ teaspoon nutmeg
6. Spray skillet with duck fat and place in pie crust
7. Pour apple mixture into pie crust & slice ½ stick of butter and place across the top
8. Place second crust on top, seal the edges using a fork, cut a couple air holes on top
9. Inset the big green egg conveggtor with the legs up and the grate on top
10. Bake the apple pie at 425 degrees for 40-50 minutes or until it’s a golden brown
11. Serve hot with vanilla ice cream
12. Drizzle Texas Pepper Jelly Rib Candy Apple over the top and enjoy!
